Having formed for the start of the 2020-2021 season as an amalgamation of players from three different OYFL teams across Divisions G, D and B (Halse United, Bure Park Juniors and Heyford Park), the Under 13 team’s aim was to gel as a team and consolidate its place in Division C. This first season proved tough – but the team realised its aim and turned its sights to the recently completed 2021-2022 season.
After two games and two losses (!) at the start of the 2021-2022 season, the team learnt two very important lessons (i) never take a result for granted and (ii) the game is not over until the final whistle is blown. As the season progressed the team went from strength to strength, finishing top of the table having won every one of its league games since the start of January 2022.
The players enjoyed joining the runners-up, Donnington (2016), at the OYFL presentation evening in June. The teams played a six-a-side friendly – ending in an honourable draw – after which the team was presented with the Division C champions trophy and individual player trophies.
